Omg, I never thought it would be so difficult to pay for a wow subscription.
After finding out there were no game time cards in my small hometown, I called the main city nearby and spoke with a gentleman at EB Games. He informed me that Blizz has changed their credit card payment options from being able to pay with any credit card to only being able to pay with a credit card that is in the same NAME as the account holder. As a result, many people lost their method of paying by using a friend's/family member's credit card, and switched to buying game cards. He said in the last month or two the demand for game time cards has increased 400-500% (!!) and that he was all sold out as a result, and while he was expecting more, it did not look like very many would be coming in as it looked by the shipping manifests. After phoning almost all electronics stores, I finally found that Wal Mart had two left (horseshoes I agree), and I will be getting one today.
TLDR version is thus:
If you use game time cards, buy in advance, as supply is low due to drastically increased customer demand as a result of Blizzard's change in credit card subscription payment options. Hopefully Blizz is aware of this and working to get more time cards in circulation, which probably make them more money than cc billing anyway.
I'm quite certain I will be setting up a paypal account to use from now on to prevent any possible future hassle like this month has turned out to be.
